So far, the materials, from Apex Building Technology (a CA-based company) are passing permit processes in Northern CA. Soon the designs and structural plans, (created with assistance from Malibu-based bam!) will be sent for Pacific Palisades (L.A.) permits.
The architectural design process is similar to “stick-built” in that the manufactured panels are customized to each homeowner’s desired shape(s) and size(s). These panels will be manufactured at the same time as a traditional foundation is laid on the lot; the panels will be delivered in a container, crane-lifted into place, and assembled onto foundation hold downs.
“Our Apex Building Technology’s ‘speed of manufacture’ and ‘ease of on-site assembly’ is why this process is proving both more cost-effective and less time-consuming. We believe it’s a significant advance in building technology,” said the California-based inventor Greg Nickel, CEO Apex Building Technology
Every month we’ll be filming and sharing the latest updates, on the Alcima project. Will THIS house be the first to be rebuilt? Track the progress to find out!
